Set theory originally grew out of analysis and topology, and was
later influenced by combinatorics. The minisymposium lectures
reflect these roots. What distinguishes set theory from these
other fields is its strong connection to logic, which also figures
prominently in the topics and techniques represented in the talks.
In fact, each of the results to be discussed has dual appeal,
applied and foundational.
